China’s number #1 search engine releases IM client beta

The most popular search engine in China released an IM client today called Baidu Hi. They have been working on Baidu Hi for almost a year, and this is the first beta, it has not been released to the public but it is being tested internally. Baidu may total kick Google’s ass in search but it is unlikely to dominate IM as well. China already has lots of good IM programs such as QQ. This has 70% of the IM market 289 million users. Which is odd as CNN reported that there are only 210 million internet users in china, obviously some have multiple accounts.
