A new study out by ABC looks at which are worth more, Internet ads or TV ads. It finds that internet ads are worth more. About 80% of people who watched an ad through the ABC player remembered who the sponsor was. This is way higher than TV ads. With this information we may see an even greater push for online video ads (great). This could also put a little more pressure on sites like YouTube, which are already under pressure to embed ads into their movies . If this were to happen, we could also potentially see some sort of revenue splitting deal between the makers of the movie, and Google (which owns YouTube). This would be good for the movie makers, but it would mean that we have to see more ads.

Definitely agree it’s because Internet ads allow you to have more control over who sees the ads and you can get better statistics on who saw the ad, where they’re from, whether they clicked it, whether they bought it, and even get user reaction from the ad – with conventional TV ads – it’s all guesswork.
